Cottage Kitchen Plan

I am in the process of planning out the finishing touches to our cottage kitchen. I have been waiting for 9 YEARS to put in a new butcher block counter with a breakfast bar!! Just a reminder....

... this is how it looked when we bought the house 9 years ago...

...note the window (with panes) between the kitchen and the laundry room?... which are both a part of the interior...

... this is roughly how it looks now...

The plan- I like the NUMERAR butcher block (in birch) counter-top from IKEA. And it comes in a depth that will allow for the breakfast bar overhang! Yay!

In their natural state, the counters will be significantly lighter (in colour) than our hardwood floors but I think I will stain them a colour closer to our floors. I found this post from this and that that inspired me to stain them. Below is how their IKEA counters turned out... not bad at all...

We would need one ~ 96 x 25" piece and one ~ 73 x 39" piece (this one will need to be cut down). This totals $518 + tax.

In terms of the sink, I was thinking of going with the BOHOLMEN 1 1/2 bowl inset (also from IKEA).

Originally I was thinking of doing an under-mount sink, but I would like my husband to install it and this is the safer way to go. Also, at $139 it is a great deal.

In terms of faucet, I was thinking the MOEN Walden 1 handle pullout kitchen faucet with sprayer.

The faucet is $228 from the Home Depot. This brings our cost total $885 + tax.

Now we just have to find the do all this...
